Coming from New York's Dattner Architects..our next speaker brings the Rodino Federal Building's reimagine project to Edmonton and Calgary.
John Woelfling AIA holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
John was Project Manager for the Peter W. Rodino Federal Office Building Modernization in Newark, NJ.
The 16-story office building was constructed in 1968 to house several federal agencies. The modernization will transform this important
feature of downtown Newark into a dignified, inviting, and efficient Federal facility. The existing loggia will be enclosed to provide a new entrance
with state-of-the-art security and create a new public identity for the building. Obsolete space layouts, finishes and building systems will be
brought up to the current GSA standards. A failing precast concrete exterior will be repaired and overclad with a new blast resistant glass
curtain wall, creating a double-skin facade. This project is being designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification. Dattner Architects’ bridging
documents for this design-build project was recently bid at 10% under the budget estimate.
