Access to Medically Supervised Injection Services (AMSISE) integrates medically-supervised consumption services with organizations that serve people with substance use issues within the city of Edmonton. These sites include the McCauley Health Centre, Boyle Street Community Services, and George Spady Society. AMSISE seeks to addend these pre-existing services, to reduce harm and connect with at-risk individuals to provide social supports, primary health care, counselling and addiction treatment programs.
AMSISE is rooted in care, compassion, and trust. They desire to improve safety and health, not only for the individuals who use their safe-injection sites, but for the community at large. Their strategy for appending inner-city organizations that serve substance-using, usually homeless individuals, involves offering spaces that are clean, bright, functional, and comfortable for users and staff.
