Slave Lake Legacy Breaks Ground

This was a very special groundbreaking ceremony!

Manasc Isaac’s relationship with the Town of Slave Lake goes back many years. The Slave Lake Government Centre & Library we had designed for them was only one year old when the 2011 wildfire ravaged the town and destroyed many buildings. While we assisted the Town in rebuilding this facility, a conversation began about a way that the tragedy (and the town’s residents’ courage) could be acknowledge and commemorated through a new community building.

What emerged from this conversation is the new Slave Lake Legacy project. This new community centre will  offer daycare services, a new Elks hall, theatre, FireSmart information centre and public space.

We were excited and honoured to attend the groundbreaking for Slave Lake Legacy on September 17, 2014. Stay tuned as the project rises from the ground with an expected completion date of 2015!
