HISTORY

118th avenue in Edmonton, also known as Alberta Avenue, has long been the subject of intense neighbourhood renewal efforts. For over a decade, the city of Edmonton has been working alongside the provincial government and local businesses and arts communities to transform and rejuvenate the historically impoverished and neglected neighbourhood. Though efforts are still ongoing, 118th avenue today is home to a diverse and lively population and is known within the city as a central arts and culture hub.

VISION

ArtsCommon is a vibrant, inclusive community centre and a gem of the 118th avenue area. A multi-purpose and multi-tenant facility, the building is exceptional in its flexibility and accessibility, featuring adaptable spaces that perform myriad functions and encourage various modes of creative expression. The centre includes performing arts space, studios, galleries, workshops and living spaces for local artists. The Arts Common is another essential step in the revitalization of the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood.
