HISTORY
The McKay Avenue neighbourhood has one of the highest concentrations of families in the city of Edmonton. Located in the downtown core, the area has long lacked suitable park spaces, with many families having to drive to reach the nearest playground. Our team--alongside numerous local charities and organizations, including the Edmonton Police Service and the Edmonton Public School Board--came together to bring to life a space that will fill this gap in city infrastructure and delight children and adults alike.
VISION
The McKay Avenue School playground is unique from other playgrounds in the City. Rather than using the traditional sand covering of most playgrounds, our team opted for a spongy turf that is not only safer and more hygienic, but more visually appealing. With swirling colours of bright green and blue reminiscent of the Edmonton River Valley, the space is beautifully coherent with its natural environment.
