HISTORY

Edmonton’s seniors services were inadequate to meet the growing needs of the city’s aging French-speaking population. The Centre de Santé St.Thomas is unique for Edmonton in that it offers culturally-appropriate services in both English and French.

VISION

The Centre de Santé St. Thomas provides assistance and community for Edmonton’s francophone and English-speaking senior citizens.  The centre is flexible and sustainable, capable of adapting to the diverse needs and requirements of its occupants. The design includes 200 housing units, as well as space for numerous services, including a medical clinic, event halls, a dining area, hair salon, spa, and an accessible and walkable garden space.

A SANCTUARY FOR THE SPIRIT

The gardens and patios surrounding the building are designed for safe and secure enjoyment year-round. The facility meets the objectives of the Commercial Building Incentive Program (CBIP) and while this project was not submitted for LEED® Certification, the principles of LEED® informed the design to reduce energy costs and improve the health and wellness of residents.
