Michael J Turner

P.Eng., LEED®AP BDC, Principal

P.Eng., LEED®AP BD+C

As a Principal of Reimagine and its Lead Engineer, Mike's responsibilities within the firm are wide-ranging.

On active design projects, Mike provides technical guidance on the integration of key building systems for clients, design team members, builders, and building managers.

As leader of the Architectural Engineering and Building Physics team at Reimagine, Mike’s experience in forensic investigation and the design of building envelope systems adds value to Reimagine's core sustainable design practice. Designing healthy buildings in Canada’s cold climate poses its own set of constraints, and Mike’s experience in applying innovative, environmentally-sustainable technologies in all climate-types ensures that the firm is always ready to turn a technical challenge into an opportunity for innovation.

Alongside his deep interest in sustainable design, Mike also takes genuine satisfaction in fostering strong relationships and connecting to project teams. As he says, “I consider my most important task to enable each individual on a project team to access and develop their highest skill level, and to bring real design value to our clients." In his role as educator and coach, Mike supports staff through professional licensure, continuing education, and career planning.

Mike’s several decades of experience in the building sector includies materials testing, building forensics, envelope and structural design, and energy modelling in varied climates, geological landscapes, and political and social environments. He has worked on the majority of the team’s LEED®-certified projects, is LEED® Accredited (LEED® AP BD+C), and is an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), Northwest Territories Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, and Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
