Project Sectors
Our team is honoured to be working with Alexander First Nation, located in Treaty 6 Territory, to design a welcoming and supportive Child and Family Services Centre (CFS).
VISION
The facility will provide a safe space for children and families while reducing the number of Indigenous children in foster care. The facility will unify multiple prevention programs, including Wapski, Jordan’s Principle, and Post-Majority Support Services (PMSS), creating a comprehensive approach to community wellness and child care support. With 37 offices and space for approximately 55 staff, the Centre is designed to accommodate future growth based on community needs.
DESIGN INSPIRATION
At the heart of the design is the turtle, a figure which community Elders highlighted as bearing cultural significance during a project visioning workshop. A ceremonial gathering determined the turtle’s orientation, including the placement of its "head" and entrance, grounding the building in community tradition and meaning.
