HISTORY
The Lethbridge area in Alberta is home to a diverse group of Indigenous communities, including but not limited to the Piikani, Kainai, and Siksika First Nation. Through previous engagements, these communities, alongside the City of Lethbridge, identified the desire for a hub that would bring together and serve these unique communities.
VISION
The objective of the feasibility study was to explore the dynamics specific to the Lethbridge community and envision a concept for an Indigenous Cultural Centre. Our comprehensive and inclusive consultation process included a community-wide conference, inviting both Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents, to explore the value of a culture-informed community hub. The resulting destination statement is:
"The Centre will be for everyone. It will be a safe place, bridging the distance between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the Lethbridge region, and meeting with compassion and understanding the community’s physical and cultural needs."
