HISTORY
Every year since 2011, Reimagine gives $10 000 of design services to not-for-profit organizations around Western Canada. Soccer Without Boundaries is just one of those special recipients. Started in 2011 by Jean Claude Munyezamu, Soccer Without Boundaries focuses on providing a safe and enabling space for new Canadians and low-income populations in Calgary. For many years, Soccer Without Boundaries (SWB) comprised only a soccer field and a dream; now, the organization faces a growing demand for its services and requires its own designated facility.
VISION
Soccer Without Boundaries requires an integrated Soccer and Community Centre that celebrates a diversity of cultures, that supports collaboration, and builds success within the community. We defined in the early workshopping sessions the components essential to the project’s success; SWB desired an inclusive and inspiring space that would encourage community ownership and connection and provide support for the organization’s future growth. The centre’s comprehensive programming includes a gymnasium, an indoor soccer field and track, a community garden, childcare and a commercial kitchen and café.
