HISTORY
Our firm is committed to serving as a positive force in our community and the world at large. To that end, we established the Blue Sky Award, an opportunity for charities and non-profits in Alberta to realize their dreams through design and architecture. One of these award recipients was Skills Society, an internationally-recognized charitable organization in Edmonton that provides support for individuals with disabilities, their families, and their communities.
VISION
The Skills Society team envisioned a space that would foster the learning, resourcefulness, and growth of their community and its leaders. Our team helped Skills Society to bring this vision into reality. The Action Lab is designed to facilitate innovative solutions and bring people together in creative dialogue.
A PRECEDENT OF INSPIRATION AND CREATIVITY
The Skills Society Action Lab’s innovative mandate makes it the first of its kind in Western Canada. All revenue gained from the Action Lab supports the employment of people with disabilities and furthers social change initiatives of Skills Society. The space is organized into different areas offering various workshop approaches and techniques, including a collage wall and a “Six Thinking Hats” station. We were so inspired that we created our own "Thinking Hats" corner at our Edmonton studio!
