After completing a Feasibility Study in 2017, Reimagine was hired in 2021 to design an expansion and renovation to the existing library. The renovation addresses functional issues the library faces, rearranging spaces to accommodate new technology, expanded staff work areas, and improving acoustics. The renovation expands the footprint significantly, embracing a beautiful view of the hill and bringing warmth to the landscape year round with wood cladding to honour Francophone and Indigenous peoples. We led an ambitious engagement process to amplify a population of disabled and culturally diverse Beaumontonians. New spaces will allow for the community to be creative in the makerspace, meet with community groups in a conference room, have a place for teens to hang out, and expand the collection in a building that invites exploration. The expanded and renovated library, once constructed, will transform Beaumont in ways that only libraries can transform.
