HISTORY
Frog Lake is a Cree community located about 200 km east of Edmonton. With nearly 2000 band members living on reserve, there has long been a pressing need for childcare in the community with an estimated 250 children under the age of 5. A community outreach space will complement the childcare facilities and continue for all Nation members the journey of self-discovery and cultural empowerment throughout the many stages of life.
VISION
Located at the core of Frog Lake, the Centre provides a comfortable, supportive space to care for over 100 children and an outreach facility that will provide 40 teens and young adults with essential skills development training. The programming of this new build provides interactive learning with culturally-relevant language elements. The space is open, innovative, and energy-efficient with additional flexibility to host communal gatherings and events. This flexible and diverse space creates a continuous and supportive learning experience for the entire community and stands as a reflection of Frog Lake's connection to the land, nature, and Cree history and culture.
