HISTORY

The City of Calgary has an excellent reputation for its sustainable and progressive infrastructure. The Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) Transfer Station is no exception. Looking towards the City's future and protecting the environment in the present, the City of Calgary consulted our team with the vision for a streamlined, safe, and durable Transfer Station that would necessarily adapt to the changing technologies and practices of waste management.

VISION

The science and methodologies of hazardous waste management is constantly evolving. The new HHW Transfer station identifies, categorizes, and relocates several material types—paints, flammables, toxics, corrosives, and more—while also anticipating in its design the management of materials not yet commonly used. The Station is necessarily flexible and durable and will be built to exceed the 30 year lifespan of its predecessor.
