HISTORY

Bonnyville is a charming town of 6000 people located in east-central Alberta. Rich in historical and cultural legacy, the Bonnyville government wished to reflect the values and culture of the town in its new town hall building. Outdated and faded, the former Town Hall would make room for an accessible, multifunctional and central point of connection for residents and municipal staff. When Reimagine worked with the community to select a new site for the Town Hall, the heart of the Town was affirmed as the best place to rebuild.

VISION

Warmth, integrity, collaboration. These are the values that inform the new Bonnyville Town Hall. The building's program includes council chambers, break-out areas, emergency operations centre, and various meeting rooms. The new Town Hall was constructed on the parking lot of the former Town Hall, allowing for occupancy of the new facility and then demolition of the old building. Once the former Town Hall was removed, a delightful new south-facing civic green space and plaza remained in its stead, inviting the community to gather for significant events year round.

WELCOME TO BONNYVILLE

Merging functionality and comfort, the Town Hall boasts a high-performance building envelope, exposed wood and large windows as well as a brick facade that references the former 1960's building. The thoughtfully designed layout encourages the flow of people and movement in a warm, sunlit environment that includes the generous public green space that fronts the building’s entrance.
