HISTORY

As is stated on the Yellowhead Tribal College (YTC) website, "Yellowhead Tribal College is an inclusive and open learning institution in Treaty 6 territory. We provide accredited programs in a flexible, supportive academic environment that nurtures Indigenous cultures and traditions." Reimagine has a long-standing relationship with the College, and we have collaborated with them on multiple occasions to create a vision and a strategy for growth. Our team was retained by the YTC to work on the renovation of storage room 266A and classroom 266, located in the Orange Hub. The rooms required retrofitting and new laboratory equipment to properly accommodate courses in science and technology.

VISION

Primarily, the Lab will serve as an integrated Learning Space: the lab will support education on First
Nations epistemology, empiricism, and Treaty Rights, which will ultimately support reconciliation with Indigenous people. The new science laboratory will be a warm, welcoming, and
community-oriented space that will benefit Indigenous populations living in Edmonton and serve as a safe learning space for all users. The project will support enrollment and the pursuit of the sciences among First Nations and Indigenous peoples.
