HISTORY
As the Municipality of Jasper grows, the more the infrastructure needs to be resilient to support this growth. The current condition of all municipal facilities, efficiency of spaces in the current facilities, and the opportunities for a more strategic organization of spaces led to the engagement of Reimagine in early 2024. As Jasper's public facilities age, there is a need to assess the building conditions of all the existing buildings and assess ways to relieve pressures in current facilities.
VISION
As the Municipality of Jasper envisions a future with a sustainable and resilient set of infrastructure over the next 20-year horizon, a team of architects and engineers prepared this report in collaboration with members of the administration. Climate risk assessment focused on the challenges related to a warming environment.
Depending on the results of the engagement workshops and the number of staff, this will help identify more clearly how we can strategize. Scenarios were identified and recommendations provided, right in advance of the wildfires that ripped through the Town in 2024.
OUTCOMES
The report provides a summary of the functional and building condition assessment findings conducted per building. It provides information on observed concerns and provides recommendations to rehabilitate, upgrade, or replace building elements to accommodate future needs. The building condition assessments highlight critical items requiring immediate attention, with non-urgent recommendations also identified. Based on the information collected, a series of diagrams were provided to highlight the current operational relationships between all parties and to provide scenarios to foster a more favourable and efficient operational organization strategy for the Municipality of Jasper, a hub for culture and tourism in Canada's rockies.
