HISTORY

The University of Alberta Botanic Garden (UABG) is a site of natural beauty treasured by the Edmonton community and botanists alike. Hosting as many as 40 000 visitors annually—and anticipating another 210 000 in the coming years—the UABG desired to expand and improve upon their existing facilities to better accommodate this anticipated growth and provide more (and better) spaces for special events and activities.

VISION

Key to the vision for the UABG is the Main Entry Pavilion, which desires space expansion and visual enhancement to better attract and serve Garden visitors. With nature serving as an essential inspiration, the building mimics a leaf or flower petal in both its aesthetics and anatomy and visually and functionally merges the building with its extraordinary natural surroundings.
